What is UKCA certification?


The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is a new British product certification mark adopted by the United Kingdom for specific products sold to the British (England, Wales, and Scotland) market after it leaves the European Union. It is applicable to most of the previous CE markings commodity.

UKCA became effective on January 1, 2021. However, in order to allow manufacturers sufficient time to adjust and adapt to the new requirements, the British government has extended the deadline for accepting the CE mark in the British market to December 31, 2021. Products entering the British market after 2022 are mandatory to attach the UKCA mark.

  • Where does UKCA apply?
    • The applicable area is Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland), excluding Northern Ireland.
    Products entering the Northern Ireland market must obtain UKCA and CE marks.

  • Can products with UKCA or UK(NI) mark enter the EU market?
    • The EU only accepts the CE mark, not UKCA and UK(NI).

  • UKCA effective and mandatory date?
    • Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) will be effective from January 1, 2021. The CE marking for most products has a one-year transition period to December 31, 2021.
    The use of the UKCA logo will be mandatory from January 1, 2022.

  • Products that meet the following conditions need to use the UKCA logo
    1. Products that want to enter the British market
    2. Products regulated by UKCA regulations and directives
    3. Must be assessed by a third party
    4. The UK Notified Body was originally used, and the conformity assessment documents were not transferred to the EU Notified Body before January 1, 2021
