- GMI reviews the self-assessment form.
- Schedule a production on-site assessment.
- The packaging supplier must print the GMI-specified test file and prepare it for on-site inspection by GMI consultants.
- GMI will reviews on-site assessments, mainly for four packaging production categories: pre-press, plate-making, in-press, and post-press. Each production category is subdivided into subcategories that will be measured against five criteria: program documentation, maintenance, operational capabilities, equipment performance, and training. Each standard is scored on a (0-3) scale, where 0 means complete compliance, 1 means minor defect, 2 means major defect, and 3 means extremely serious defect.
- The GMI Certified Company will use the Packaging Supplier Site Evaluation Form to document the results.
- Based on the data entered by the GMI certification company, the on-site assessment form will generate a score that will be used to assess certification.
