Cable Tie Installation Art, called “EMO” from University College London, which is sponsored by HUA WEI industrial. EMO will be displayed on Fifteen Exhibition at UCL. It launches on December 11, 2018. EMO is created by Ping-Chieh Hsieh and Jung Tu who is from Taiwan as well as Wimonwan Wichaikhamjorn who is from Thailand. Their work combines human detection, application program and visual lighting, which is an interdisciplinary interactive art.

EMO serves the purpose as to interrogate not only between subconscious perception and conscious awareness but to explore human emotion. In this project, “How I truly feel?” and “How I feel?” which indicates both the biometric body response and the social expressions under conscious mind. It is inevitable to find out the conflicts between these two statuses. A concrete example is that when you post and emoji or state your feelings on your Facebook page, your processing of feeling and the perception of your feeling often diverge. Your online persona does not necessarily equate to your real-world person.

EMO consists of a wearable installation and a large-scale and non-wearable installation. The wearable installation includes muscle sensors and GSR sensors, which attach to the face and neck for detecting the emotion. When a signal is detected, The LED light bulbs on the wearable installation and large-scale and non-wearable installation will be lighted up. It is a pretty special and direct feeling experience to the participating audience since it is non-verbal and non-traditional way to switch or effect the color of the light.

University College London (UCL) is one of the top 10 universities in the world. The Bartlett school is one of the most prestigious colleges at UCL, and the world's most recognized and influential school of Architecture.
